The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.

Intention and purpose were used to make this fettuccine alfredo, and happiness in life is gained by living the same way.
A little fettuccine on a Sunday evening

This quote is one of my favorites, and it gives me great happiness to share it with you!  I'm reminded today about living with intention and purpose, and allowing pleasure to enter our lives each and every day.  This was so beautifully shared with me by my boyfriend when he offered to cook me a lactose free "fettuccine alfredo" to suit my dietary restrictions.

Even though it was twice the work, and (let's face it) half the taste, it was some of the best pasta I've ever had.  Seeing the satisfaction, and dedication that was put into the dish was more than heartwarming.  You see, enjoying the journey, and not waiting until we reach the destination is what so many of us forget.  These simple acts of purposeful thought about others are so crucial to our life satisfaction.  If we do not allow ourselves to see past all of the "noise" or "static" that surround our lives, we will miss these moments of happiness! Remember to keep your eyes open!

As caregivers, professionals, and family members, we need to remember to not only feed our own souls, but to nurture the souls of those we care for.  Simple acts, such as cooking a special meal, reminiscing about the past, or even just taking a drive around town with our loved one can be life changing.  This is such an overlooked portion of wellness, that needs to be remembered!  I challenge you to take action, and make a difference in the life of an elderly person in your community - family, friends or strangers!  Big or small, no good dead goes unnoticed!  Comment below with your stories of sharing happiness in your community!
