How To Live The Life You Love - HINT - Let Go!

It is not the years in your life but the life in your years that counts.
                                                                                      ~ Adlai Stevenson
It's easy to get caught up in the day to day stresses, and to "put off" being happy.  This is just a little reminder to pay attention, be present, and enjoy each and every moment.  With an average life expectancy upwards of 75 years, we all have plenty of time to get our work and our play in, so focus on the positive and takes things in stride.  Our tombstones will have just 2 dates, but the dash in between is the most important part.  Make it count!

Here are some fun ways to break up the monotony in your day to day life to inspire wellness:
  • Treat yourself and a friend to lunch, but here's the catch - NO CELL PHONES.  Remember that conversation was around way before social media.
  • Take a "mental health day" but don't spend it veging on Netflix (unless that's what fuels you). Get outside and take a hike, or a swim, or just take a walk. Spend time improving yourself and how you feel during this day off.
  • Make a list of everything that you are grateful for that day. This is especially good when your day has been absolute sh*&. Remember the positives, and take a few minutes to read over your list and remember that "this too shall pass."
  • Write a letter or postcard to someone you haven't talked to in a while. Keep with the unplugged vibe and show them you are thinking about them, and that you care enough to make this gesture of thoughtfulness.
  • Invite some friends over for a home cooked meal. With the high priced cost of living these days, a night out can be very costly. Instead, put on your apron, and whip up your best dish for a few friends. Ask them to bring the wine, or a dessert to share, and voila - you have a party!

It takes a lot of work to get into the present and to stay there long term. Come up with your own list of go-to ideas to keep you in the here and now.  And most of all, don't forget to find pleasure in the everyday things.  You can do it!
